A graduate of the Berklee School of Music and who played with various bands and orchestras for many years. These accomplishments have now given me the ability to play the jazz music I love, with passion.
Along with playing guitar, I also have been involved in audio technology and recording. This has allowed me to use my percussion, bass and other instrumental skills to enhance my guitar performances. (see my music page for examples)
The three jazz styles I use primarily for my performances:
“Urban” jazz, a blend of jazz, hip-hop and R&B created during the 1980’s in London England clubs. Guitarist Ronny Jordan has been the most influential on my playing style.
“Groove classical” jazz, this is where pop and soul meet classical guitar. One of the top classical guitarist in this contemporary jazz field is Peter White who has made such an impact on my playing in this genre.
“Bossa Nova” jazz, contemporary songs played with the Bossa-Nova beat. A few examples; Earth Wind & Fire’s “September” by Marcela Mangabeira or Marvin Gaye’s “Mercy Mercy Me” by Sarah Menescal. (see these in my music section)
